Nokia Asha 305, 306 and Nokia 311 launched

Today Nokia has announced three more Asha devices to further expand the affordable Asha series. This time we are talking about three brand new full touch phones. Yes, that's right full touch S40 phones. 

Nokia Asha 311



The most powerful of the bunch is the Asha 311 pictured above which sports a 3 inch LCD QVGA(320x240px) capacitive display powered by a 1GHz CPU. The connectivity features include Bluetooth, 3.5G and WiFi b/g. It also supports AV output trough the 3.5mm jack port. The Asha 311 has a 256MB internal user memory and supports micro-SD cards up to 32GB. Photography is handled by a 3.2MP fixed focus snapper.

Nokia Asha 306



The Asha 306 pictured above sports a 3 inch LCD QVGA(320x240px) capacitive display but the CPU specs are still unknown. The connectivity features include Bluetooth, 2G(no 3G unfortunately) but now WiFi. It also supports AV output trough the 3.5mm jack port. The Asha 306 has a 64MB internal user memory and supports micro-SD cards up to 32GB. Photography is handled by a 2MP fixed focus snapper.

Nokia Asha 305



The Asha 305 is the dual SIM version of the 306 so the specs are the same. The Asha 305 uses the easy swap SIM capability.

All three phones come with Nokia Maps and Nokia Life preinstalled and will benefit from a launch offer of 40 Gameloft games for free.

The new touch based Asha OS features a pull-down notification area just like Belle and the input is handled by a QWERTY on-screen keyboard available in both portrait and landscape orientations.

Microsoft Releases Windows 8 Release Preview

Previously, there were two versions of Windows 8 that were released by Microsoft. These are the Windows 8 Developer Preview and the Consumer Preview. However, both are still considered to be the beta version on which a lot of amendments are still needed to be applied. The same cannot be said about this new preview which is the Windows 8 Release Preview.

This particular version of Windows 8 has its advantages. First of all, this is as close as you can get with the final version of Windows 8. In this build, all of the applications that were meant to be on Windows 8 are made available. The only difference is that if the final version will have a few bugs and fixes sorted out.

Inside the Release Preview, there were a few enhancement made and this includes three new applications, a “Flip Ahead” browser gesture, Flash support, multi-monitor support and a few others. In addition to that, there are also words that Wikipedia and Box.net will each release their own app for the new operating system.

If you have Consumer Preview, you will have to make a clean installation of the Release Preview. All of the personal settings will retain if you have a Live ID. If not, you will have to start from zero.

Lenovo U310 and U410 Ultrabooks

We're no strangers to Lenovo's new IdeaPads, having seen them at CES, but now the relatively cheap (and chunky) Ultrabooks are available to purchase. The starting price seems to have inflated slightly since January, with the 13.3-inch U310 base model going for $749 and the 14-inch U410 starting at $799. If size and weight are your prime concerns, be advised that even the smaller U310 comes in at 1.7kg (3.74 pounds) and 18mm (0.7 inches) thick. The 14-incher takes the Ultrabook definition to its limit at 1.9kg (4.18 pounds) and 21mm (0.83 inches) thick. Both are available with Ivy Bridge processors up to Core i7, as much as 1TB of storage, plus optional 32GB SSD cache drives and NVIDIA discrete graphics.
