Sony Xperia Sola

Sony is adding another smartphone to its fledging ranks, the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)powered Sola.

And Sony is touting its brand new 'floating touch' navigation, which enables web browsing without touching the screen. Floating touch allows users to navigate the web by hovering their finger above the screen so it acts like a moving curser, without having to touch the screen. Once desired link is found it can be highlighted and a simple tap will load the page.

In addition to the floating touch, the smartphone comes with a 3.7-inch Reality Display (with a Mobile Bravia Engine), a 1 GHz dual-core CPU, NFC (Near Field Communication) and Xperia SmartTags support, as well as 3D surround sound.

Sony promised an update to Android 4.0 in the 'summer'.

The device should hit the market globally in three colours - black, white and red - in the second quarter of 2012.
